Why The Little Things Are Important
Around this time of year, here in the UK, there has has begun a small change. The days are getting longer. It started a couple of weeks ago but you didn’t notice as much. As January starts to unfold it becomes more apparent.
It’s not by much. A few minutes each day. The sun rises a a little earlier and sets a little later. This is a little thing and it happens every year. But it damn well makes me happy when I notice it. It brings a smile to my face and really does kick up a positive outlook inside my brain.
You see a shift, it’s happening and you know it’s only going to get better. So this little thing brings a whole bunch of happiness and positivity. It’s not in my control but it help me to smile.
In the same way many smalls things bring joy. It doesn’t have to be out loud. Most of the time it’s inside. The only outward sign may be a half smile, and some deep relaxed breathing.
Having a cup of fresh coffee as you watch the sun rise in the morning. Watching your baby sleep. Seeing the smile burst onto the face of your partner when you surprise them with a gift. Seeing the birds back on the branches of the trees in the park. The sounds of their chatter. I can go on…
The little things are important because they bring with them a thousand times more happiness, calmness, and hope which fill your heart, thoughts, and body.
Notice and enjoy each and every little thing. Because you are important!
